  • Florida Bar association members responsible for technology, risk, or compliance

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify key technology risks affecting Florida law firms, including data breaches, ransomware, and third-party vulnerabilities.
  • Understand the ethical and professional obligations of AI regarding technology competence and client confidentiality.
  • Implement practical cybersecurity measures, including MFA, encryption, secure backups, cyber warranty, and incident response planning.
  • Develop an actionable IT improvement plan aligned with the firm’s strategic growth goals and Bar ethics requirements.
  • Evaluate and select technology partners (such as MSPs or IT providers) to improve the firm’s technology tools to enhance productivity, collaboration, and document security in a legal environment.

Mike Knox

Michael Knox is the Founder and CEO of Knox Technology, a managed IT service provider based in Southwest Florida. With more than two decades of experience, he helps professional service firms, particularly in the legal, accounting, and engineering sectors, modernize, secure, and streamline their IT environments.

Mike’s expertise spans cybersecurity strategy, cloud infrastructure, and digital workflow optimization for compliance-driven industries. He has deep technical knowledge in network architecture, low-voltage systems, and data protection, and has led technology modernization initiatives across Florida focused on system integration and business continuity planning.

He holds an MBA from Florida Gulf Coast University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida. Mike serves on the Board of Directors and is a past President of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Lee County. Mike enjoys fishing, boating, and coaching youth basketball, football, and baseball.
